More Love!

Just want to give a huge thank you to the group from Bethel UMC that spent the day with New Life Furniture this past Wednesday.  They came to us via 'Awaken the City' and as always - the joy and love they have for their brothers and sisters was truly inspirational!
These wonderful people truly did change the lives of three families in just a few hours.  Some very happy Moms and very happy kids out there because of this groups efforts.  Thank you again, and thank you Awaken the City for all the wonderful work you have been doing for the past many weeks in Cincinnati!   Peace

We LOVE our volunteers!

Sorry it has been so long since the last blog update!  This year has been extremely busy with both furniture pickups and a lot of families requesting help from us.  Record numbers!  Thought it would be easiest to share the past month with you all via pictures!  So below, are some of the volunteers that have given New Life Furniture their love, support, friendship and strength  this past month.  Just a wow and we are in disbelief at how much this little idea of a ministry has grown!  It's been four years this month!  Happy Anniversary NLF!

A group of lovely ladies from PPG Industries volunteered to spend an entire day painting the NLF reception area and meeting room.  They did a fantastic job and believe they had a lot of fun!  Thank you so much!  What a transformation of our facility!

A group from Awaken the City spent the day with NLF in June helping with furniture pickups and deliveries! This group was from Missouri and were absolutely wonderful with the families they served that day.  They didn't even complain about the 90 degree temp or high humidity!  Thank You all!

Another group from 'Awaken the City' in July!  This group was from Waters Edge UMC in West Chester Ohio - led by their pastor and Awaken the City intern.  Again - just a terrific group on another very hot day!
Thank You, Thank you!

This great looking group from Greenville Ohio spent two days with New Life Furniture!  They organized our warehouse, then spent the next day on the road with us picking up furniture and making deliveries to families in need.  Again, a wonderful group from Greenville UMC led by Pastor Joe Payne!  They definetly had a good time and were great with the ones they served.

Our most recent group of volunteers from Eastside Christian Church.  Part of the staff at this great Milford Ohio Church spent the morning with us this week and made a very large delivery of furniture to a Cincinnati family in great need.  Eastside always sends us great volunteers - I hope they know how much we deeply appreciate them!

Holly's kids and friends helped out this month with a furniture delivery! Not sure if MOM made them do this - but knowing them, I'm sure it wasn't a hard sell.  Great job kids!
And as always a huge thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers!  Dave, Dean, Bill, Ted, Steve, Patti, Mark, Carolyn, Sandy, Dustin, Kelvin, Carol...and I'm forgetting some?
A Big Big thanks to our furniture donors this year.  We have already exceeded the number of pickups completed in all of 2009!

Until next time, Peace & Love!

NLF Loves The Public Allies of Cincinnati!

Just a little update to Holly's post, this is a picture of the extremely talented Public Allies of Cincinnati class at the 'Spring Celebration' event (with me, Holly, and my son who snuck in the pic.)  If they are any indication of where our country is headed with today's youth...we are in very good hands.  Passion, empathy, kindness, love are but a few words that barely begin to describe each of these individuals.  New Life Furniture was definitely blessed with the gifts they brought to the ministry.  Thank yous to them does not express our gratitude.
We had the opportunity to be with them one last time yesterday (April 30) as they showcased all their hard work for NLF and lessons learned to their peers and group leaders.  This extremely fun and hard working group expressed themselves with a very creative skit.  The gist of it was flipping tv channels during the daytime, and each channel was a different show that  they acted out - telling of their accomplishments, challenges, etc of their team service project. Shows were 'The price is Right', Montel, Family Feud, Oprah Winfrey and others.  Very funny, engaging and informative.  I hope they share the tape of it with us.  Holly and I then took 10 minutes to address the people their about our experiences with the Allies.

They will be missed by us...greatly missed.  Yet hopefully our relationship with them on an individual basis will continue.  NLF Loves the Public Allies of Cincinnati!
